Lately in the secretariat Mapala Silvagama was ngetrend some new vocabulary, one of which is “Adiwiyata”. A new term (for friends silvagama) is a “most phrase” since the past month Mapala Silvagama hold events with the theme of environmental education. What is Adiwiyata and its relation to the activities recently being cultivated friends Mapala Silvagama?. Hopefully we get from the official website of the Ministry of Environment is able to further improve our insight and contribution to the program Adiwiyata.

What is Adiwiyata?
Adiwiyata have the sense or meaning: A good place and an ideal which can be obtained all the science and the various norms and ethics that can be the basis for the creation of the welfare of human life and leads to the ideals of sustainable development.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES Adiwiyata
Create good conditions for schools to become places of learning and school community awareness, so that later on the school community can take responsibility in efforts to preserve the environment and sustainable development.
The main activity is directed on realization of the school concerned institutional and cultural environment for primary and secondary schools in Indonesia. Besides the development of basic norms which include: togetherness, openness, equality, honesty, fairness, and the preservation of the environment and natural resources. And application of basic principles, namely: participatory, where the school community involved in school management which covers the entire process of planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate responsibilities and roles; and sustainable development, where all activities must be well planned and continuous komperensif.
PROGRAM CRITERIA AND INDICATORS Adiwiyata
A. Caring Schools Policy Development and Environment Cultured
To create a caring school environment and culture will require some school policies that support the implementation of the activities of environmental education by all citizens of the school in accordance with basic principles of program that is participatory and sustainable Adiwiyata.
Development of school policies include:
1. The vision and mission of the school concerned and cultured environment.
2. School policy in developing educational learning environment.
3. Policy capacity building of human resources (faculty and
non-educational) in the field of environmental education.
4. School policies in an effort to save natural resources.
5. School policies that support the creation of the school environment clean and healthy.
6. School policy for the allocation and use of funds for activities related to
environmental problems.
B. Curriculum-Based Development Environment
Submission of environmental material to students can be done through the curriculum in an integrated or monolithic. Material development, learning models and learning methods vary, undertaken to provide insight to students about environmental issues associated with the everyday environment (local issues).
Curriculum development can be done include:
1. Development of cross-subject learning model.
2. Excavation and material development and environmental problems that exist in the surrounding communities.
3. Development of environment-based learning methods and culture.
4. Development of curricular activities to enhance students’ knowledge and awareness about the environment.
C. Development of activity based
To create a caring school environment and culture, citizens of the school need to be involved in a variety of environmental learning activities. In addition schools are also expected to involve surrounding communities in a variety of activities that provide good benefits for the citizens of the school, society and environment.
Tersebutantara other activities:
1. Creating extra curricular activities / curriculum in the environmental field-based participatory in school.
2. Following the action of environmental activities undertaken by outsiders.
3. Building a partnership activities or initiate the development of environmental education in schools.
D. Management and development of school
In realizing that caring school environment and culture should be supported facilities and infrastructure that reflects the environmental management efforts, among others, include:
1. The development of means of support functions to an existing school environmental education.
2. Improving the quality of environmental management within and outside the school district.
3. Saving natural resources (electricity, water, and ATK).
4. Improved service quality healthy food.
5. Development of waste management systems.
